An uneven recovery
For most chemical producers, 2009 was the most difficult in memory – if not history. As a result of the economic slowdown, and the spreading global financial crisis, chemical companies faced a series of challenges throughout the year. Early in 2009, demand for most chemical products fell to five-year lows, before output stabilized and a gradual recovery began.
