We recruit through three distinct pathways:

Education and experience

  • To join us, you will need a strong university degree result (2:1 or above) in a numerate discipline and consistent achievement in earlier public examinations
  • You may hold an advanced degree or an MBA
  • You are fluent in English, additional language skills are desirable
  • Past internships and/or other work experience are desirable

Intern

Every year we offer internships to students who have yet to complete their studies. The purpose of internships is to complete valuable internal projects and to assess students on their suitability for employment with us after their studies are complete. The internship projects may be related to a dissertation that the intern needs to complete as part of their degree or may simply be work experience during vacations. Graduates

  • We are interested in strengthening our consulting team with outstanding graduates and are looking for highly talented people with no or a few years of work experience.   Successful applications at this level would enter the company as Business Analysts. 
  • As a graduate at Arthur D. Little, you will immediately become a member of a case team and perform analytic casework to support the case manager and consultants within the case. We believe that being immediately involved in actual casework is the best way to learn the craft of consultancy. 
  • MBA graduates generally enter on the next career level, called Consultant.

Current Opportunities:

Consultant - Risk Practice, Cambridge

Salary £30,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
Position 1: Manager (5 or more years’ experience in in comparable role)
Position 2: Consultant (2+ years’ experience in comparable role)

Ideally candidates will have 2 or more years’ experience with a good background in system assurance, safety, hazard and risk methodologies.  You will have an interest in assurance work, with an ability to support a wide range of risk projects, including the review of the development of software based systems.

You will be educated to degree level in engineering or science with a strong academic record.  A relevant post-graduate qualification would be desirable.

The job is based in Cambridge but will involve travel in the UK and abroad.

Process Safety Consultant - Risk Practice, Cambridge

Salary £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience

You hold a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering.  You have proven (5 - 7 years) experience as a process or operations engineer in an engineering firm or in the Oil & Gas industry or you are an experienced risk consultant.  You are familiar with the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment methodologies, have a good understanding of Process Safety Management Systems and are able to lead HAZOP and SIL Review sessions, at least for simple units.

You will be willing to travel internationally and have the ability to work in teams in client offices far from home office support.  You have fluent written & spoken English; the knowledge of one or more foreign languages would be advantageous.

We require an enthusiastic, adaptable, hard-working, problem solving and articulate individual who is willing to learn.

Senior Hire

To join us as a Senior Hire you will require more than three years of relevant work experience as well as meeting the graduate entry-level requirements.

As a Senior Hire you will usually apply your skills as a Consultant although the precise career level at which you join is decided during the interviews, according to experience and background. Many Senior Hire candidates benefit from building their consulting skills for their first 6-18 months with the firm, before applying their functional and industrial skills fully on behalf of clients.
